September 8-12, 2008

The field is looking more & more like fall has set in...with the few light frosts we've had, we're done with the warm weather crops, and are now moving on to the late season ones.

Acorn squash ripening.

Golden Hubbard winter squash.

Sweet Dumpling winter squash.

Pumpkins---green now but hopefully will be turning orange soon!

Mini pie pumpkins.

These are the 2 "volunteer" Jack-o-Lanterns we have...let us know if you're interested!
We'll be drawing names on Oct. 5th.

We laid the onion tops over so we can pull them soon.

Leeks--you'll be seeing these in your share bags shortly.

Beets are ready to be harvested.

Kale (above) and Collards (below) get sweeter with the cold nights, and are great in stews and soups!

Chard is also doing well with the cooler weather.

Lettuce heads.

Parsley doesn't seem phased by the frost.

Potato rows are getting smaller now as we've been harvesting.

Greenhouse...empty & ready for red worms to live in this winter.
